From local business to blue chip corporations, Powertest has always provided a consistent level of service to all its customers. We believe in treating everyone with the same level of service at all times, no matter how big or small the job is. We believe our success has come from this ethos and our story is one of perseverance and commitment.
On June 21st 1993 Powertest Ltd started trading as a small family run business supplying Portable Appliance testing (PAT) and Mains Electrical Testing in the local area of Haywards Heath in West Sussex. The demand and need for the service that enables employers to comply with the Electricity at Work act 1989 began to grow. Starting with a modest 2 office staff and 1 field engineer, the business soon outgrew its office space, located in the owners’ attic.
In 1995, Powertest Ltd moved into Delta House, its current home, a more suitable office environment enabling the business to grow and provide a professional service to its customers. From here Powertest Ltd gained recognition with the local businesses as a first class service provider and was soon employing 10+ field engineers with an increasing office staff.
In 1998/99 Powertest Ltd was invited to provide a test & inspection solution to McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd in the Southern Region of England, encompassing London and the South East areas and covering some 150-200 Restaurants with 2 visits per year. Powertest has continued to provide Test & Inspection to this day and have also been an integral part of writing the McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd testing specification since 2002, to which all of their current service providers across the UK are obliged to work. The specification includes Portable Appliance Testing, Residual Current Device (RCD) testing & Mains Testing (Fixed wire inspection in accordance with BS7671:2008), resulting in a comprehensive compliance specification to meet their demands.
By using a bespoke PAT testing program, Powertest Ltd was able to provide a full test certificate with traceable barcodes attached to each appliance, which doubled as an asset register. This level of service was unique in the early years of PAT testing and is now a standard that most customers will expect. Powertest Ltd had a unique service level regarding this, and that was to supply the same service to all customers that required PAT testing. Advanced Network Solutions provided Powertest Ltd with a fully backed-up software solution to ensure its customers never lost their records, and also provided an on-line web based portal where all of Powertest Ltd customers could access their certificates.
Even in its infancy, Powertest Ltd worked with principles that included ensuring all the test engineers would be fully qualified for the job they were to perform, including C&G 2377 for all the PAT testers and minimum of C&G 2330 & C&G 2391 for mains electrical testers. In addition Powertest Ltd has been a member of the NICEIC since 1994, with a clean track record of compliance to date.
In 2010 Powertest Ltd was acquired by Vinci-Facilities UK, a member of the Vinci Energies group and a part of the global Vinci group. This move provided a “Self Delivery” option to the Facilities Managers within Vinci, providing them with a more cost effective and professional solution to their clients electrical compliance needs. With the backing of Vinci-Facilities UK, Powertest Ltd is set to go from strength to strength, with an ability to provide an even better service solution to its customers both old and new, whilst maintaining its core values of being P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E.
